Plant biostimulants

Plant biostimulants are an important tool for modern agriculture as part of an integrated crop management (ICM) system; helping make agriculture more sustainable and resilient.

According to EBIC (European Biostimulants Industry Council) plant biostimulants contain substance(s) and/or microorganisms whose function when applied to plants or the rhizosphere, is to stimulate natural processes to enhance plant nutrient uptake, nutrient use efficiency, tolerance to abiotic stress, and crop quality.

Plant biostimulants differ from other agricultural inputs such as fertilizers and plant protection products because they utilize different mechanisms and work regardless of the presence of nutrients in the products. They also do not have any direct action against pests or diseases and therefore complement the use of fertilizers and plant protection products.

YaraVita BIOTRAC™ is a liquid formulation for foliar applications based on a blend of nutrients and bioactive components extracted from the algae Ascophyllum nodosum. It was developed to alleviate the impact of abiotic stress conditions (e.g. cold and drought) and help the plant during periods of high metabolic demand in order to enhance flowering, fruit set and improve yield quality and quantity.
