Concrete Corrosion Inhibitor
Using a concrete corrosion inhibitor is a cost-effective method of extending the lifespan of steel reinforcements and reducing repairs. But choosing the right one is essential.
To deal with the potentially expensive issue of corrosion, in the mid-1990s, Yara developed NitCal, a purified, speciality nitrate for use as a concrete setting accelerator that reduces potential corrosion.
Having a concrete admixture that works as a corrosion inhibitor is a significant benefit to a construction's durability, making the admixture a cost-effective solution for the building industry.
Why use a corrosion inhibitor?
NitCal provides extra strength to structures by reducing the corrosion of reinforcements. This gives your construction, building or civil works long-lasting durability and cuts life-cycle costs by reducing repair and rebuilding costs.
The reduction in corrosion also increases the life of the building, bridge, tunnel or any construction that you need to build.
NitCal is a cost-effective solution in a wide range of concrete pouring situations.
Why choose NitCal from Yara?
Safe and easy to handle
Reliable deliveries to your site
|NitCal is safe to handle and cost-efficient compared with alternative products. It is available in granules or liquid solutions and can be added to concrete either before or during its mixing to alter its properties. It is easy to handle and ship because it isn't regulated by the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG) (re: Special Provision 208).
|Depending on your needs, NitCal can be shipped in bulk or in IBCs (Intermediate Bulk Containers). It can be delivered directly to your site or plant thanks to Yara's worldwide network of 200 terminals and warehouses in over 150 countries, and you can be sure your order will get to you when required.
|If you are concerned about your green credentials, NitCal is an environmentally friendly product that is non-hazardous, and creates no alkali-aggregate reaction (AAR). We use state-of-the-art technology in our production plants to reduce CO2 emissions by using our own proprietary catalysts.
What's the recommended dosage for Yara NitCal as a concrete corrosion inhibitor?
Your NitCal dosage for preventing corrosion will depend heavily on:
- How much cement is used
- Any additional purposes it is also being used for – dosage varies based on usage as a setting accelerator or for anti-freezing in the cold
Factors such as the type of cement used and the dosing method also need to be taken into consideration.
Please be aware that the "antifreeze" feature requires prior testing.
