We help customers optimize their application of fertilizers and we actively develop environmental solutions for other industries
Main content
The principles of product stewardship guide all of Yara’s activities. They ensure that proper care is taken along the entire value chain, from product development and purchase of raw materials, through production, storage and distribution, to sales, delivery and usage.
Yara is constantly seeking to improve the quality of its products, operations and manufacturing processes to eliminate waste and maximize efficiency, addressing head-on concerns about the impact of modern farming. Product stewardship provides a systematic approach to monitoring and reviewing the quality of all activities and products. In addition, Yara maintains an active dialogue with customers, partners and other stakeholders, which the company believes is essential for achieving continuous improvements.
Yara has been committed to the principles of product stewardship set out by the European Fertilizer Manufacturers Association (EFMA) for several years. The EFMA’s product stewardship program is mandatory for all member companies, and independent auditors regularly verify that members are living up to their side of the bargain.
Being a member of EFMA also involves a clear commitment to the principles of sustainable agriculture and a pledge to make and sell safe products, and operate plants based on best practice. It means controlling storage and distribution, and working with others in the supply chain to ensure the safe and environmentally correct manufacture and use of fertilizers. The product stewardship program covers the entire fertilizer value chain from sourcing of raw materials through manufacturing, packaging, transportation and storage to the use of company products on the farm. All members pledge to share their knowledge on these issues with the community at large.
