The Yara Foundation was established by Yara International in 2005. The objective is to support the African Green Revolution, as called for by former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. Since 2005, the Foundation has annually awarded the Yara Prize to individuals and organizations.
The mission of the Yara Foundation is to commend outstanding efforts to increase food production and availability in Africa. It is intended to help reduce hunger and poverty by contributing to the transformation of the continent’s agriculture and subsequent improvement of food security within sustainable contexts.
The Yara Foundation statutes describe the prize’s sponsor, structure, mission and objectives, and specify the formal regulations for the nomination and selection of candidates and the awarding of the Yara Prize.
