Yara is a leading producer of complete NOx abatement solutions including SNCR systems and urea or ammonia reagents. These are used by the industrial and the maritime segment. We are also the world’s largest producer of AdBlue/DEF/ARLA 32, the high purity urea solution for NOx abatement in heavy duty and off-road vehicles.

Yara offers a one-stop supply of reagents, complete technical support for storage, preparation for inspections and safety audits, and automatic refill of tank levels via telemetry. In stationary applications, Yara can take responsibility for an entire DeNOx installation and its operation. We market our products and services under the brands Air1® and NOxCare®.

In addition to Yara’s NOx abatement solutions for heavy-duty and light vehicles, off-road vehicles and industrial plants, we also serve the maritime sector through Yarwil, our joint venture with Wilhelmsen Maritime Services.

Heavy-duty and light vehicles

Heavy-duty vehicles – trucks and buses – and light vehicles around the world have to comply with NOx emission standards. For this they use a reagent known as AdBlue in Europe or DEF in North America which is a non-toxic aqueous urea solution. It is used jointly with a Selective Catalyst Reduction system.
Passenger vehicles

More and more passenger vehicles that comply with NOx emission standards are coming on the market. Most of the vehicles’ manufacturers are choosing DEF or AdBlue used in conjunction with a Selective Catalyst Reduction system to reduce NOx emissions.
Off-road vehicles

Off-road vehicles running with diesel engines, like tractors, cranes and trains, will all eventually have to comply with NOx emissions standards. Yara’s broad expertise in NOx abatement allows it to offer an optimal solution to address the needs of this specific segment.
Industrial plants

Increasingly stringent legislation around the world regarding NOx emissions requires action by industrial plants. Power plants, cement , waste incinerators, glass factories and refineries are increasingly using an ammonia, or urea, based reagent together with an SCR or SNCR system to reduce NOx.
Maritime

Vessels are NOx emitters and their impact is being increasingly felt and subject to regulation. Yarwil, Yara’s joint venture with Wilhemsen Maritime Services, offers a comprehensive solution including a specially developed urea solution marketed under the NOxCare® brand.
