In the food industry and especially the dairy industry, hygiene is important and time-consuming.
Dismounting, scrubbing, washing and rinsing have today been replaced by Cleaning in Place (CIP). CIP is a programmed and automatic washing process that uses acid, lye and lots of water for rinsing.
In dairies, solid deposits are removed by nitric acid. Washing conditions are 1 to 2 percent nitric acid concentration at 50 to 70 degrees C.
