Main content
Yara is Europe's largest ammonia and leading carbon dioxide and dry ice producer. Our Europe distribution network includes three ships and many terminals.
CO2 is available in three different forms, as gas, liquid or solid dry ice. In a highly purified form, its unique properties are widely used in beverages, food processing, airline catering and refrigerated transport industries. Carbon dioxide is often an environmentally friendly alternative to other more hazardous chemicals. Yara has a portfolio of solutions for various industries.
Dry ice is the common name of CO2 in its solid state. Dry ice is made by allowing liquid CO2 to expand to produce CO2 snow and then compressing it into conveniently sized dry ice blocks, slices and pellets.
Yara’s dedicated CO2 team provides the end-user with specific expertise and a reliable supply chain. Yara’s knowledge and insight help our CO2 clients optimize their business potential, value chain and bottom line.
Carbon dioxide is a basic ingredient in all carbonated drinks. It provides effervescence, enhances the flavor and communicates freshness.
Carbon dioxide is used throughout the food chain for such things as growth enhancement in greenhouses, stunning, food preservation via freezing and chilling and modified atmosphere packaging. It protects food products through the cold chain from producer to supermarket, ensuring food safety for the consumers through prolonged shelf life.
Fresh, chilled and frozen products need gentle, protective and temperature-controlled transport to stay fresh and still be safe for consumption. Carbon dioxide offers transit refrigeration for an unbroken cold chain. It is also an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional refrigerated transport systems.
A variety of industrial processes can rely on carbon dioxide as an environmentally friendly alternative for such things as water/effluent treatment, blast cleaning and welding.
