During 2009, Yara reinforced its corporate governance. An improved risk management system was developed and a compliance unit established; procedures for monitoring risk exposure and assessing risk levels were implemented. The new Yara Ethics Program strengthened the focus on ethical conduct and responsible business practices.
Yara pursues a stricter practice regarding corporate governance than mandated by law, guided by its Code of Conduct which aims to ensure that all Yara employees consistently act in a manner that is in line with quality standards and business requirements.
Yara pursues a risk management that is based upon the principle of risk evaluation as an integral part of all business activities. Yara follows established procedures for continuously monitoring primary risk exposures and assessing risk levels.
