The Yara Foundation was established in 2005 by Yara International. Its objective is to support UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan's call for an African green revolution and the UN Millennium Project's goal of halving poverty and hunger in Africa. The Foundation awards the Yara Prize for a Green Revolution in Africa annually. The Yara Prize recognizes efforts that increase food production and value creation in any field related to African agriculture. The Foundation also supports grass roots initiatives, the first of which is the Bar-Sauri Millennium Village Project in Kenya.
