Yara has a commitment to achieving the highest possible records of health and safety - in all units, around the world. While Yara HESQ policy continues to evolve and set new standards, efforts to keep improving the hard figures of our safety record have been recognised.

 

Yara has received the "Best in Class" designation from Storebrand Investments, awarded to companies that meet the highest environmental and social standards within their industry.

 

Facts and figures

Yara’s dedication to a zero accident policy pays off. There were no fatal accidents in 2006. The accident frequency is close to 1 lost time injury per million hours worked. The total recordable injury rate is approximately 3 per million hours worked, with this performance placing Yara amongst the best performers in the international chemical industry. The average sickness rate is below 4 percent for Yara’s production plants.

  • The VNCI (Federal Dutch Chemical Industry) Responsible Care prize 2005 to: Yara Sluiskil Netherlands
  • The IGV (Industrigaseverband Germany) Anerkennung für Sicheres Arbeiten 2005 to: Yara Industrials Germany
  • The SESI (Servico Social da Indústria, Brazil) Prêmio SESI de Qualidade no Trabalho (related to safety, health and quality at work) to: Yara Brazil Salvador (2005), Yara Brazil Imperatriz (2005), Yara Brazil Vitoria (2005) and Yara Brazil Olinda (2004)    
  • The EIGA (European Industrial Gases Association) Road Safety Award Cylinder Vehicles 2004 to: Yara Industrials Norway
