Nitrogen

Nitrogen makes up approx. 78% of the atmospheric air we breathe.

Nitrogen, N2 , is a tasteless, colorless, odorless, nontoxic, noncorrosive and nonflammable gas.

It makes up almost 79% of the atmospheric air we breathe.

Nitrogen as gas is widely used primarily for its properties as an inert gas in applications covering a number of industries, including :

  • Metallurgical industry in production of Aluminium and Steel to creating an inert atmosphere

  • Chemical industry to inert vessels and oxygen-sensitive chemicals

  • Mechanical industry as cutting gas in lasers

  • Laboratories as a carrier gas, to determine the composition of a sample    through different analytical instruments

  • Food industry to extend shelf-life in packaged foods, alone or mixed with other gases, to protect food in modified atmosphere packaging

  • Production of oil and gas, nitrogen is used after maintenance stops in pressure testing of equipment prior to drilling and processing of oil and gas.

  • Cryogenic freezing of food.

Nitrogen is delivered either in liquid form (LIN) by truck, in smaller liquid tanks or in gas cylinders.
