Carbon dioxide (CO2/Dry ice
We are one of the main players in the European CO2 market Carbon dioxide, CO2, is a tasteless, colourless, odourless, non-flammable, liquefied gas. It is a tiny part of the atmospheric air around us (0.03%), and we exhale it and it helps to control our breathing. It is used by plants to help them grow. Plants, in turn, release oxygen, which people depend on for survival. Typical areas of application:
Most of us have tried sparkling beverages such as carbonated lemonade, cola, beer or sparkling wines, all of which owe some of their refreshing taste to the CO2.
Most of the CO2 is recovered from our ammonia plants in Porsgrunn (Norway), Sluiskil (The Netherlands) and Ferrara (Italy). We distinguish ourselves in the market by being the only European company with a full-fledged logistical system, which includes marine transportation and terminal operation. CO2 can be delivered by lorry to customers either in liquid form (often referred to as LIC) for large-scale users, as gas in cylinders for small-scale users, or in solid form as dry ice.
