Dry ice

Pellets,slices and blocks

A unique cooling agent

Dry ice is the common name of carbon dioxide (CO2) in its solid state

Dry  ice is made by compressing and cooling gaseous carbon dioxide (CO2) into liquid, and then allowing it to expand to produce CO2 snow.  The snow is then compressed by a hydraulic press into convenient sized dry ice blocks, slices and pellets.

Dry ice sublimates leaving no residue.  Made with a high degree of cleanliness, it is neither toxic nor flammable.  It is tasteless and odourless and has approximately three times the refrigerating effect of water ice.  Because of these properties, dry ice is an extremely valuable refrigerant and freezing agent, used extensively within the food processing, airline catering and transport industries.  The product has a temperature of -78.6° C (-109.5°F), whereas traditional water ice is only 0°C.
