Bio-nutrient

Micro-organisms need a balanced addition of nutrients such as Nitrogen and Phosphorus to produce the healthy biomass that is so essential to the removal of organic substances in biological purification processes.

The BioNutrient concept
Some wastewater may contain insufficient nutrients needed to be assured of an optimal biological purification process. For micro-organisms to work as efficiently as possible, it is necessary to add the correct and balanced amount of vital nutrients.

We therefore have developed BioNutrients - a concept for optimizing the dosage of nutrients for the biological purification of wastewater. This concept consists of:

  • Knowledge about biological purification of water
  • Process optimization expertise
  • Process control technology
  • Special Nutrient Chemicals

Benefits by Optimised dosing of nutrient

Correct balanced dosage of nutrients will provide:

  • An environmental gain in the form of reduced nutrient discharge.
  • Greater purification effect due to higher activity in the biomass and better sludge separation.
  • Reduced sludge production because of a more efficient biomass.
  • Easier and more efficient sludge dewatering because of:

     -less filamentous bacteria

     -better flocculation

     -higher sludge concentration

     -more stable operation.

Overall, these improved operating conditions will result in:

  • Reduced chemical costs
  • Reduced operation and maintenance costs
  • Reduced surcharges

Biological Purification of Water
In simple terms, biological purification occurs when micro-organisms convert organic substances to carbon dioxide, water and biomass, the latter then being removed by sludge separation. The micro-organisms require oxygen, ammonium and phosphate ions to achieve this. Micro-organisms need a balanced supply of nitrogen and phosphorus, which are their most important nutrients. The need for ammonium and phosphorus will vary and the amount will depend on the purification process itself, on the operating conditions and on the amount of organic material to be removed.

Process control

With variation in the quantity and quality of water flow comes the need to have a dynamic dosing of nutrient. Manual monitoring and analysis for adjustment of dose is very demanding and does not give an optimal result. We have therefore developed a process control system called IDA control system where knowledge and experience are combined with online signals from process parameters and sensors to give optimal dosing of nutrients

Nutrients

We offer a wide range of nutrient chemicals in both liquid and solid form (nitrogen and phosphorous) to meet the specific requirements of the effluent water.
