Animal nutrition

Animal feed phosphates
Feed phosphates, including inorganic feed phosphates and magnesium supplements, are used in animal feed, as a means of providing a number of minerals and trace elements essential to healthy and productive animal growth ensuring good bone and muscle formation.
Feed phosphates, marketed under the BOLIFOR® and Kynophos® trade names became part of Yara product portefolio after the Kemira GrowHow acquisition, contain high bioavailable macro minerals and offer feed minerals for pigs, poultry, ruminants, horses, fish and pets. The customers are mainly feed producers. Selected raw materials processed in the company’s own production facilities are designed to result in feed minerals of superior quality, excellent nutritive value, high digestibility and traceability.

Animal feed acids
Another product range added after the Kemira GrowHow  acquisition  is acidifiers which help to promote healthy growth in animals by controlling harmful bacteria and improving digestion. The product group BOLIFOR®  feed acids range from anti-microbial feed preservatives to acidifying mineral supplements for compound feed, premix and home mixing and they include feed acidifiers, antisalmonella and antimould acids.
Feed acidifiers can be used as an alternative to antibiotics, which will be banned as growth promoter in the EU in 2005 under new legislation.
