Using global strength to deliver local benefits

Yara made a strategic move into the heartland of North America when it took over Canadian Saskferco in 2008 and relaunched the company as Yara Belle Plaine Inc. The major nitrogen manufacturing plant became part of Yara’s upstream production system serving markets in western Canada and the upper Midwest of the USA.
Yara’s new production site in Saskatchewan, western Canada was considered a good fit, not least because its core business is also Yara’s core business.
