Yara and WWF Norway have agreed to collaborate on a range of key environmental issues
In May 2008, Yara International and the Norwegian branch of WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) agreed to work together to promote environmental conservation and sustainable agriculture.
The new partnership reflects WWF’s recognition of Yara's environmental policy and commitment and Yara’s support for WWF’s work on environmental change. The partnership agreement, which will initially run for two years, gives Yara access to world-class expertise in the areas of biodiversity and global warming.
Common objectives for the cooperation include minimizing the climate change impact from mineral fertilizer production and use, promoting sustainable agriculture and rural livelihoods and conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services in regions where both WWF and Yara have a significant presence.
Besides funding WWF Norway activities, Yara is also prepared to co-fund international WWF projects with the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) in 2008.
The partners plan to hold an annual joint learning session to optimize their collaboration.
