In 1990, Hydrogas purchased a share of the state-owned Ceylon Oxygen Company Ltd on Sri Lanka. This was a chance acquisition rather than carefully planned strategy, but it is a good example of the way Hydro's industrial chemicals sector was able to take market opportunities as they arose.
